Civic Engagement is a key pillar of Ummah Network, focused on encouraging Muslim communities across the UK to take an active and meaningful role in public life. We believe that strong communities are built when individuals are informed, connected, confident, and able to contribute positively to the decisions and institutions that shape society.
Through civic education, community dialogue, leadership development, voter awareness, public participation, and engagement with local and national institutions, Ummah Network aims to empower individuals and organisations to become active citizens and constructive contributors. Our work supports communities to understand their rights, responsibilities, and opportunities, while helping them build stronger relationships with civic bodies, policymakers, public services, and wider society.
Civic Engagement is not only about representation; it is about responsibility, participation, and positive influence. Ummah Network seeks to strengthen the voice of Muslim communities while promoting unity, collaboration, and shared commitment to the common good.
The recent May 2026 local election results have prompted important conversations within the Muslim community in Havering about representation, confidence, and the direction of local civic life. This moment offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and understand how our community is feeling — collectively and individually.
To support this, Ummah Network is conducting a community‑wide survey to capture your perspectives, concerns, and aspirations. Your insights will help shape a long‑term strategy to strengthen minority voices and ensure that the needs of Muslims in Havering are understood with clarity and accuracy.
This survey aims to:
Understand how Muslims in Havering are interpreting the current local landscape
Identify key priorities, concerns, and hopes for the future
Inform a community‑driven strategy for engagement, unity, and progress
Support constructive dialogue and collective planning
Your participation will directly influence the next steps of this work.
Your voice matters. Please take a minute to complete the survey below:
